Inflection Invests $3M in Nordic Air Defence's Anti-Drone Platform
Swedish defense technology startup, Nordic Air Defence (NAD), has secured an additional $3 million from Berlin-based VC firm, Inflection, in an extension of its Pre-Seed funding round. The latest financing brings the round’s total to $4.4 million, one of the sector’s largest Pre-Seed raises.
Based in Stockholm, NAD develops advanced defensive solutions for both civilian and military applications. The company emerged from stealth mode in September 2024 with the introduction of its inaugural product, the Kreuger 100, a battery-powered, highly portable and scalable, drone interceptor platform designed for civil and military use. The additional investment will help bring NAD’s Kreuger 100 drone interceptor platform to market, and ultimately in the field.
NAD's team comprises professionals with backgrounds at leading global defense, and technology firms, such as Palantir, Kratos, Quantum Systems, the Swedish Defense Research Agency (FOI), Zipline, SAAB, and others. The company has recently expanded its engineering team with talent recruited from Anduril, Einride, and FLIR, further underscoring its commitment to advancing European drone defense innovation and reducing reliance on international supply chains.
By minimizing traditional hardware and leveraging software-based capabilities, NAD’s Kreuger 100 is produced at one-tenth the cost of conventional anti-drone technologies, including traditional interceptors and missiles. This reduction in cost facilitates mass production and enables customers to expand their interceptor inventories to meet evolving threats. Its lightweight, battery-powered design enhances portability. As drone warfare rapidly evolves, traditional jammers and kinetic systems are not only expensive, but are also becoming less effective against new types of threats.
Karl Rosander, CEO of Nordic Air Defence, emphasized the urgency of adapting to present-day security challenges. “There can be no complacency: the world is rapidly changing and Europe must create new industrial capacity and deliver defensive hardware at scale. Inflection recognizes the urgency of our mission and has provided crucial investment, enabling us to bring the Kreuger 100 to market and ultimately into field operations.”
Commenting on the investment, Inflection Partner, Jonatan Luther-Bergquist, noted, "NAD possesses the entrepreneurial drive and expertise needed to transform the defense tech industry. Our investment reflects confidence not only in NAD’s team, but also in Europe’s engineering and defense legacy. We are pleased to support NAD as they prepare to launch the Kreuger 100."
NAD’s board consists of Karl Rosander and Gustav Wiberg (NAD co-founders), Dr Jonas Dromberg (founder of Revalence Ventures and NAD investor), and Hampus Särnbratt (NAD investor, EQT Ventures), with Inflection participating as board observers.
